We met on St. Patrick's Day at The Stumble Inn in New York City on the Upper East Side. It was a hectic scene with tons of green beer, loud music, and people everywhere. Matt came over to Sarah’s table looking for a place to set his pitcher of beer down. We struck up a conversation and haven't stopped talking ever since but there was one hang up; Sarah was on a date with someone else. Needless to say, the date wasn't going well and when it was over, she walked back into the bar to find Matt. We dated all throughout the spring and made things official on Cinco de Mayo. Summer followed into Fall, we met each other's families, celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas together, and took a trip to London and Amsterdam to celebrate our February birthdays. When we got back from our trip, Covid-19 was about to hit NYC. During quarantine, we made it through sanitizing groceries together, isolation, zoom happy hours, and the scary unknown. Ever since we've known we would be together for the long haul and decided to officially move in together. Since then, we've lived in Stamford, CT where we have our close friends and proximity to the New York City for work. Last September, we decided to take a trip to Germany to see Matt's sister, Grace, and then continue on to finish the trip in Paris. We traveled from Frankfurt to Stuttgart, enjoyed plenty of brats and beer and saw the Alps. It was so much fun to spend time with her and see where she lived. We had talked about getting engaged and even picked out a ring but Sarah had no idea we’d be getting engaged on this trip and even if we did, she thought it would be when Matt’s sister was with us. The day we went to the Alps it was such a perfect and gorgeous landscape. Grace drove us on the Autobahn and we even saw the same castle that inspired Walt Disney's Cinderella Castle, but no ring that day. The next day we were headed to Paris, so Sarah figured we wouldn't be getting engaged at all on this trip since it didn't happen that day with Grace. Once we got to Paris and settled in, our first night we went to a show at Moulin Rouge and the next full day would be free of any scheduled plans. That following morning, we planned on walking around near the Louvre. It was rainy and gross out so Sarah didn't plan on getting dressed up or looking special so when Matt kept asking her, "Hey, you sure you don't want to do your hair or anything?" she just rolled her eyes. Little did she know... We walked to the front of the very crowded Louvre, and it all happened so fast. Matt moved us to a specific spot, got down on one knee, and gave a beautiful speech where Sarah admits can only remember the first few lines of because she was so surprised. He planned it so perfectly, after Sarah nodded her head "yes," she see this girl with a camera coming closer to us. The girl drops the camera away from her face, revealing it is Matt’s sister Grace who secretly followed us to Paris with Matt’s help! Sarah was so shocked and happy to see a familiar face in this perfect moment that the tears started to roll down her face. Matt planned the whole thing. He booked a ticket and room for Grace to follow us to Paris so she could capture the moment he got down on one knee and asked the most romantic question in the most romantic city. He even planned it to be at the Louvre because Sarah loves museums so much, he knew it'd be the perfect spot. It was the perfect engagement to the most loving person. Matt worked so hard on organizing that, now Sarah can work on the wedding to return the favor! We're so excited to vow to be together and honor our love with all our friends and family on our wedding day. We can't wait to see you all!
