Greg and Jacobi met in 2012 in Gainesville, Texas where they both played baseball and softball for North Central Texas College. Greg had become close friends with Jacobi's friend from high school, Tanya Olheiser. When I showed up to move into the dorms that fall, unbeknownst to me, Tanya had been telling Greg for the past year that "he would like me". I remember Tanya bringing Greg to my dorm door that day "just to say hi" ... and well, the rest is history!
Jacobi and Greg had been invited to a "Roaring 20's" themed NYE party hosted by some of our close friends. Greg was working in Alva, Oklahoma at the time and told Jacobi that he wouldn't be off work in time for the party and that she should go without him. Little did she know, while she was ringing in the new year, Greg was picking up her soon-to-be engagement ring! On New Year's Day, Jacobi opened their apartment door to a trail of rose petals and soft music leading into the living room. She dropped her bags and walked into the room to find Greg dressed in a collared shirt and his favorite chino pants standing in the middle of a heart made out of those same rose petals. If you know Greg, then you know it's a special occasion if his shirt has a collar, so at this point, Jacobi knew he had something up his sleeve! His iPad was set up in the corner of the room videoing him popping the question followed by a million questions from a very shocked Jacobi such as "Is this real?" and "Are you kidding me?!". After Jacobi pulled herself together (and Greg stopped sweating), they FaceTimed family and friends and went out to celebrate the only way they know how - lunch at Whataburger. We are so excited to see everyone and celebrate this next chapter in our lives. See you in Norman!
