The summer before Senior year, both of our best friends at the time were dating and they each brought us along to meet at Yamen Beach. My friend and I arrived first and waited very impatiently for the boys to arrive. Once they did, we didn’t call them over to the beach area and watched them walk ALL the way around the park looking for us before we finally took pity on them and called them over. Immediately, Jacob was starstruck (even though he was too nervous to talk to me) and before we had even made it home for the day, my friend was giving his friend my number.
Jacob and Tamera spent the day at her grandparents watching movies and hanging out. When it was time for Jacob to leave, he finally asked her to be his girlfriend on the front porch.
Graduated High School together, graduated College together, had a few apartments together, several family vacations later, brought their first pet home (Gouda and then Nerina) before settling in an apartment they’ve been in for the last few years.
Jacob had thought of everything and was hinting for MONTHS of finally popping the question. Jacob had all his friends and family hiding from Tamera his intentions (some even had to stay away from her for fear of spilling the beans!) and had his mother invite Tamera to a “Friends Easter” party and told her to ‘wear her Easter best!’ Little did she know that when she pulled into the driveway, fully expecting a Easter shindig, was she going to have to walk down a line of friends and family with roses in hand and Jacob at the end of that line down on one knee with ring in hand. Of course she screamed ‘YES!’ And the surprise proposal turned into a surprise engagement party. It was everything and more Tamera could’ve ever asked for.
