Let’s REWIND back to the summer of 2018. Sunshine had just graduated high school, and Jacob was sent off to the Great Lakes for A-School with the Navy. One day, while exploring Gurnee Mills Shopping Mall, Jacob spotted Sunshine browsing around with some friends. Naturally, he asked for her Snapchat and they hit it off! They talked ALL summer and through the winter!! Sunshine officially started her freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and Jacob was sent off to Yokosuka, Japan. With the time difference, the odds didn’t really work in their favor. Despite that, they still stayed in touch as friends every so often and wrote letters to each other. FAST FORWARD to November of 2020. Jacob returned from his longest deployment yet (thanks to COVID-19), and he and Sunshine reconnected like they usually did. Except this time, it was a little different. They stayed up until 3 AM (on school nights and workdays!) just to spend time on the phone with each other, and they decided, hey, let’s make this long-distance thing work! Over the next few years, they spent countless hours on the phone, flew to see each other whenever they could, and cherished every moment until Sunshine graduated from college and Jacob came home from Japan. And well... the rest is history! Sunshine moved down to Omaha, Jacob became a firefighter, and now, they are getting MARRIED!
