In September of 2018, Sara was sitting at a bonfire with her college roommate who introduced the idea of setting her up with her childhood friend and neighbor from home, Jacob. She went on and on about how they would be perfect for each other and how she would be willing to coordinate them meeting anytime! However, neither Sara nor Jacob were in the right mindset to jump into a long term relationship at that moment, so they declined for the time being. Fast forward to April of 2018 when this roommate had a dance show at UWRF (the college Sara attended). By this time, Sara and Jacob had done their healing and moved on through life enough to be open to the idea of a long term relationship again. So, the roommate invited Jacob to come with her family to see her show (and finally meet Sara)! After the show, they went out to the local college bars with everyone, and Jacob and Sara conveniently ended up on the same darts team. Jacob had not said a single word yet to Sara the whole night, until a few rounds into the game. Jacob then decided to turn to Sara and say “So, do you come here often?” Sara laughed at the obvious one-liner referencing the bar, in her college town, that she frequented often. However, it proved to be an effected ice breaker as they started chatting, and haven’t gone a day without talking since. For three amazing years, Sara and Jacob navigated through maintaining a long-distance relationship, traveling to Chris Stapleton concerts out of state, adding two dogs to their family, moving, and many other ups and downs that life had to offer. In May of 2021, Sara and Jacob decided to go on a trip to Jamaica with friends to celebrate Sara graduating from graduate school. Sara’s friend Leah (the maid of honor) had said that she had made arrangements for a fancy dinner at one of the restaurants within the resort. Everyone got dressed up for the evening out, and Leah had suggested the group take some pictures as we waited for dinner to begin. Jacob suggested that we go out onto the end of the pier to take some pictures by the ocean. Sara had noticed it was quite windy out there and initially refused, but agreed after some encouragement from Jacob and Leah. Once they had reached the end of the pier, Jacob took Sara’s hands and said some beautiful words as he proceed to get down on one knee and ask her to marry him. Of course she said yes, and the rest of the trip was spent enjoying newly-engaged life in the sun by the beach with each other! After now four wonderful years together, we are so excited to celebrate with you all on July 23, 2022!
