Our love story is truly a story of winding roads, near misses, and perfect timing. In the Fall of 2018, Jacob began school at the University of Wyoming with a major in Psychology. The next year, Sam began school at UW also majoring in Psychology. In true over-achieving fashion, Sam graduated early in December of 2021. Jacob graduated in 2022. Yet, we never took a class together despite graduating with the same degree. Jacob had planned on law school since he began college, but Sam only decided to practice law in early 2022. In the fall of 2022, by a stroke of luck, both Sam and Jacob started studying at the University of Wyoming College of Law. Sam -- quiet, reserved, and calculating -- and Jacob -- outgoing, loud, and a little aloof -- went about their studies on completely different paths. Then, as fate would have it, the two met just before Halloween in 2022. Sam joined Jacob at Mingles in Laramie for their first "date" at a Halloween party (see the hippie Halloween picture in Gallery!). They played pool all night, talking and laughing. Before they knew it, the bar was empty and they were being told that Mingles was closing up for the night. By December, Sam and Jacob were inseparable. They found an abundance of things they had in common as well as many they could teach each other. Going to the gym, fishing, hiking, camping, sports. For Jacob, Sam made law school less about studying the law and more about learning to balance hard work and dedication with enjoying life. Jacob helped Sam develop advanced studying skills, formal writing abilities, and pushed her to think outside the box. They studied together, explored the country, and challenged each other to be better every day. Sam and Jacob graduated in the top third of their class and spent the Summer of 2025 studying for the Bar (and maybe a little bit of golfing). After passing with THE EXACT SAME SCORE (Jacob technically had a few decimal points on Sam, but Sam had more points on the MPRE.. but who's counting), they moved to Jackson Hole to begin life together. Jacob works for the Spence Law Firm practicing personal injury and Sam works for Manning Legal Services practicing transactional law. Their Russian Blue cat, Shadow (also known as Pudds or kitten) enjoys her quiet, nap-filled days and indiscriminate treats from Sam. Sam and Jacob can't wait to continue growing with each other, loving each other, and enjoying this life that they are building together. Even though their paths could have – and maybe should have – crossed years earlier, this is a Love worth waiting for.
