Sabina worked at a local bar and grill called "Emerson Biggins." Jacob and his family would regularly watch the Dallas Cowboys football games. One night, Jacob walked in and sat with people that Sabina was already taking care of. Sabina asked, "Hello, are you a joiner?" Jacob was confused by the question and looked at Sabina with a very bewildered look and said, "Excuse me, what do you mean?" Sabina, now embarrassed, started to stutter because Jacob was very charming. She said, "Well if you will be sitting at these tables, I will be taking care of you. I see you already have a beer, but let me know if you need anything else. My name is Sabina, and I'll be back around." Shortly after, Jud [Jacob's father] walked in, and Sabina greeted him. As he mentioned, he wanted a beer. Sabina walked away and started to order the beer when she was interrupted by Jud standing tall above her saying, "I'm sorry for interrupting, but my son thinks you are very cute. Are you seeing anyone?" Sabina was excited and replied, "No, that's great because I think he's cute too." Jud proceeded to the restroom. When he came back, she delivered his beer to him. He made a great effort to point out and properly introduce his son. "Sweetheart, have you met my son, Jacob? That's Jacob right there." Again, Sabina developed a fluttering feeling and said hello. She then proceeded to ask if they needed menus this evening. Without hesitation, Jud said, "No, we just ate. Jacob grilled for us. He is an amazing cook." Sabina replied, "Oh, what else can you cook?" Jacob said, "Practically anything. What do you like?" "Oh, lately, I've been in the mood for fajitas," Sabina said. These small conversations continued through the night as the game was on. Finally, after another check-in with the tables, Jacob stopped Sabina and asked, "What's your name again?" She said, "Sabina." Jacob continued, "What about your last name?" She said, "Marcotte." Jacob replied, "Well, since I can't find you on Facebook, why don't you give me your number instead?" Sabina then grabbed his phone, entered her contact information, and for the name she typed, Sabina (girl from Biggins)... and the rest is history.
Jacob tricked Sabina into thinking one of his flight instructors needed witnesses to account for his flight hours. Apparently, witnesses need to sign off to renew a pilot license. This was absolutely not true. However, Sabina didn't know she was getting proposed to on an airplane. Sabina's sister Isabel called her on the day, proclaiming, "I have this manicure coupon that expires today. I know you enjoy getting your nails done. Will you please take it? I don't want it to go to waste because it was a gift from work." After much run-around, Sabina finally caved and went to the appointment. Isabel set the story up so Sabina would have pretty nails for photos. The nail salon knew what was happening as well. Sabina showed up and said the appointment was under Isabel, and the nail tech's face lit up. At the end of the appointment, this same nail tech sat right behind her and said, "her sister already paid today." Thinking that sounded too familiar to Sabina's situation, she brushed it off. She left the salon and got ready for date night. They ate dinner at the restaurant on the airstrip called "Stearman Field Bar & Grill." Sabina looked up and saw a precious older man walk in. She has a special place in her heart for the elderly. Jacob looked up and felt this man looked exactly like his deceased grandfather, with whom he was close. This feeling resonated with Jacob; he knew his grandfather was present for this special night. After dinner, his pilot friend showed up with his son, and we proceeded to board the plane. At one end of the strip, it sits very close to the road. Sabina looked up and thought she saw Jud's truck driving by. Jacob saw this truck and quickly distracted Sabina as it was his father. Now, go-pros were facing Sabina. She asked Jacob why they were facing her. Jacob explained that this was a safety thing that would be recorded in case something were to happen. He then explained that there is one in the front, but we can't see it from sitting in the back. Again, this was not true. It was to record the big proposal. Now, they are in the air enjoying the view. The pilot angled the plain to have sunset hit the place for special effects. Jacob said, "Sabina look over there. It's the air force base." She looked away. Jacob got on one knee and spoke a wonderful speech ending with, "Will you be my wife?" Sabina said yes! As Jacob was trying to put the ring on her finger, Sabina quickly attempted to put it on herself. She promptly stopped because she didn't want to ruin the moment. As they landed, Sabina remembered a joke between her mother, Ginger, and her siblings from the movie "Bridesmaids." She was adamant about stopping at the store. She needed a magazine and a bottle of wine to reenact one of the scenes for the joke. Little did she know, all of their close family was there waiting to celebrate.
