Jake transferred into Renee's High school midway through freshman year. They shared classes and met via mutual friends and the following year, Jake asked Renee to the homecoming dance. From then on, they continued going to dances and dating. The end of senior year came with applications to different colleges in different places. They knew that the prospects for their relationship with distance and life changes would bring challenges but continued their relationship through four years of college many states apart, including two sailing periods. Yet during college, they were able to still share a few adventures together (and they became very good at talking on the phone!). Discussions of spending their lives together became more serious as they made it passed larger and larger obstacles. Graduation came which saw Renee continuing on to pursue a graduate program in physical therapy and Jake returning to sea, but two people very much in love and eager to start a new chapter of their lives together. The following summer Jake proposed while on a hike in West Virginia - Renee accepted, and the rest is still to be written.
