Our story started when I introduced myself to the pretty, blonde 'freshman' girl sitting on the floor and working on homework before the first music club meeting of the semester. I asked her if she was a freshman because I hadn't seen her before and new people must be freshmen of course. She corrected me and informed me that she was actually a senior neuroscience major graduating that semester. We went inside and had an excellent chat about how the brain works, why people like or don't like music, the meaning of life, and other great first-conversation topics. This chat went so well that it turns out I was predicting the future when I joked to my roommates afterwards about marrying her. Music remains a large part of our relationship and is special to us because of how it helped us meet and connect with each other. To this day, we love sharing and discovering new music with each other.
Rachel and I met in Austin and our relationship flourished here. We stayed in the city after graduating from UT, and have explored many parts of the city together- from living in Central Austin to East Austin to South Austin. We are so excited to bring our friends and family to our city, and we chose our venue, The Allan House, because it is just steps from the UT campus where we first met.
Rachel likes going on picnics so I made a playlist of our favorite songs and took her on a picnic at McKinney Falls State Park. I made sure to include many of her favorite snacks like chocolate, charcuterie meat and cheese, sparkling grape juice, and carrots. After the picnic I took her down to the falls, where my photographer was inconspicuously taking nature photos. After taking some time to appreciate the water, I asked Rachel if she wanted a picture of us taken. We then asked the photographer if he'd take a picture of us, and that's when I proposed. Now we're here.
