Taco Bell was on the table. Love was not off the menu.

When two people swipe right, you never quite know what kind of magic might unfold. We clicked instantly—messaging for hours, bonding over a mutual love of spicy food and sharp, sarcastic humor. As a test of sorts, Maira half-jokingly suggested Taco Bell as a first date—just in case Jacob wasn’t worth the effort (fair enough.) He countered with the idea of a “real” date, and she agreed. December 15, 2019 now holds the unofficial world record for longest first date: 14 hours straight (and technically still going). That night included an emotional screening of Frozen 2, a dinner “interrogation,” and endless laughter. Despite our original intentions, it didn’t take long for friendship to turn into something undeniably more. Then came 2020—and with it, COVID. Quarantine accelerated everything. From sharing a home in Virginia to road-tripping across the country in just 48 hours, we soon found our new life together in California. They say the strongest bonds are forged in fire—and ours has been tested in more ways than one. We’ve weathered financial setbacks, grieved the loss of loved ones, and most importantly, worked to rebuild a family. And through it all, we’ve grown stronger—together. As Simon Sinek once said, “Love is giving someone the power to destroy you, and trusting they won’t use it.” We’ve found that to be true. Now, as we step into the next chapter of our lives, we invite our closest family and friends to celebrate this journey with us—past, present, and future. Thank you for being part of our story.
