The Tehachapi Loop is a world-renowned railroad engineering marvel located in the Tehachapi Mountains of south-central California. Completed in 1876, this 0.72-mile-long spiral was designed to help heavy freight trains overcome a steep mountain grade that was otherwise considered impassable.
