They’re a modern love story, so you’d say. Bumble. That’s how they met. No joke. It was July 2019, and Kelly had been working in Houston for almost a year after graduating from Texas Tech University. All her friends lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and she was lonely (not to sound damper) — and a little curious as to who was interested in dating in the Houston area. So, lone and behold, a late night download of Bumble. The first few experiences were bad. Like, rotten milk bad. And the app was deleted. But a church friend of Kelly’s encouraged her to re-download the app and give it another shot. And thank goodness she did. Next scene: enter Jacob, swipe right. Meanwhile, Jacob was busy working at Camping World and had connected with Kelly while in Katy for training. He barely gave her the time of day…until he did. They hit it off, and Jacob couldn’t wait to make the first move.

It was July 18, 2019. Kelly was set to go on vacation with her family and best friend to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico the next day. But Jacob couldn’t wait to meet Kelly in person. So, he made the first move and asked Kelly out on a date after hitting it off via Bumble’s messaging platform, Snapchat and all the social platforms that kids hang out on these days. So, he drove down to Katy and met Kelly at The Local Bar. After drinks, pineapple pizza (Jacob’s favorite, Kelly’s not so favorite), and a trip to Orange Leaf for some frozen yogurt, they spent the entire evening talking and walking around the courtyard of the plaza and at the end of the night, Jacob sealed the date with a kiss on the lips. Fast forward to the night Jacob asked Kelly to be his girlfriend…about a week later after Kelly’s fiesta in Mexico. July 27, 2019. Kelly was attending a throwback night at her church with her friends and had invited Jacob to come (heck, it was only a second date). The night was filled with fun games, volleyball and throwback movies and music — a 90’s kid’s dream. Jacob picked Kelly up for a Panera Bread dinner date, partied at the throwback party, and afterwards, asked Kelly if she wanted to go out to a field to hang. Of course, being the second date, Kelly questioned wether she was going to get murdered or not. But Jacob had another idea in mind. He drove out to an empty field, under the night stars and together, they watched them under the dark night sky, where he popped the “girlfriend” question.

December 5, 2021. Jacob and Kelly had embarked on a week long holiday cruise to the Bahamas with family. It was the second day at sea, after the first formal dinner, off the coast of Florida. Jacob took Kelly to the top Serenity Deck where they walked around and looked at the stars (clearly their thing), talking about future plans and how the cruise had been going. Jacob, out of nowhere, asked “will you be my forever?” and got down on one knee. Kelly said yes! The future Lusk’s to be established April 13, 2023.
