Kelly and I were brought together through one simple app: Tinder. I was living in Colorado Springs at the time, she in Pueblo. I had always been looking for someone in Colorado Springs, she didn't even have a profile. But fate brought us together. Her friends set up an account for her, and we immediately matched. While I thought I was talking to her, in fact, I was really talking to her friends who were setting her up with me! We had our first date shortly thereafter at Shugas in Colorado Springs where we had dinner. Its suffice to say I did not eat much, at all, as I was in awe of how beautiful she was. At the end of the night, she gave me medical equipment that her dad no longer needed, that that sealed the deal! We had our second date days later, where her dog, Wotan, and my dog, Max, formally met. Wotan would eventually come back to my apartment and proceed to urinate in my apartment. Kelly thought that there was no way I would want to see her after he did that but she was wrong. Two and a half years later, a deployment to Germany, a PCS to Texas, and we have been going strong. We hope to see you all at our wedding to share in our love story and enjoy a fantastic weekend in beautiful Colorado Springs!
Madhu and I met when I was in nursing school. He was in the Army, stationed at Fort Carson. My friends had told me that I needed to start dating and created a Tinder account for me while we were out celebrating spring break. They swiped and started setting up dates. My very first and only date was with Madhu. We met at my favorite restaurant and we ended up shutting the restaurant down. We talked for hours. We continued dating and were forced into long-distance when he was stationed in San Antonio. I completed nursing school, started working in the Medical ICU at the local community hospital, and immediately started my Doctor of Nurse Practice. Madhu retired from the Army, moved back to Colorado, and began working at the same hospital. This is where his love began to truly shine. I both work and go to school full time. Training to be a Nurse Practitioner requires grueling studying and many hours of clinical time. Madhu not only is patient but is my greatest cheerleader and support system. He goes grocery shopping, meal preps, and takes care of our doggy children. This already difficult situation became infinitely more difficult with COVID. My ICU has been the primary COVID unit since the beginning of the pandemic, I can't explain the toll mentally and emotionally this has taken on both of us. He proposed to me completely unexpectedly because he knew he couldn't wait any longer to start our lives together. With the brevity of life we have seen as healthcare providers, we knew without a doubt that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
