We met briefly at an LDC Kingdom Hall remodel in November 2018 after a 5-minute conversation about returning some tools to mutual friends. Despite lots of invitations to the same gatherings and LDC projects over the next year, our paths didn't cross again until February 2020. After that day, it seemed like we were running into each other weekly! We were both invited to work at another LDC project the first week of March 2020. From then on, we couldn't stop talking to each other. We were scheduled to work at the same project again in mid-March when everything was suddenly canceled due to the pandemic. Despite not being able to see each other for months, we kept getting to know each other through Zoom and texting and the rest is history...
In August 2021, our families took our first trip together to the beautiful Yosemite National Park. On the second day of the camping trip, we drove to Glacier Point to watch the sunset. While looking at the view, Jacob asked me to take out my National Park Passport. He knew that I was eagerly waiting to find the Yosemite stamp that they have at every National Park. He disappeared for a few seconds to go to the nearby gift shop to "find and borrow the stamp." When he came back with a stamp, he asked to see my book and stamped it. He gave it back to me and it read, "Katie, my love, will you marry me?" I started to get emotional and when I looked up, he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring to propose. I said yes :)
