Jacob and Kareena met on Global U: a 9-month program where we traveled around the world with a group of 20. We became close friends quickly. There was a lot of alignment and connection that made being friends easy, and fun. For Kareena, this friendship quickly turned into a crush, but Jacob had a girlfriend at the time, so she pretended it wasn't there. She always thought “I want to marry a man like that, and he is the only person I have ever met that I could see myself marrying.” Jacob left in late March to start a business back home with another close friend. So, we both went our separate ways. That is until Jacob called and said he and his girlfriend had broken up. After that, we kept in touch. Soon we were talking every day. Kareena flew to CO with her sister to meet up with him. It was a magical week, and we both were falling for each other. But, again, we went our separate ways. After leaving, the talking only escalated. Jacob came to NC “on his way” to school (CO to IN). We had another magical week together, and our crushes were ever growing. But, he went to school. Our summer fun fling was over. Everyone was convinced we liked each other, except for us. Kareena couldn’t take it anymore, we were either dating, or she was cutting it off. So, in the vaguest way possible she asked, “people are mentioning things about us so I’m just wondering where you’re at.” At that moment his phone died, so he sprinted to his room, and called her back. He responded, “The more I know you, the more I’m falling for you.” He went on explaining, and then what felt like an eternity, Kareena finally got to tell him she felt the same way. Five minutes later, we decided to date. We quickly knew we loved and wanted to marry each other. Our prayer has been that we would fall more in love with each other, as we first fall more in love with God. When Jacob proposed he prayed as we lit a sky lantern, Lord we say yes to you. And we are so excited to see how God answers that prayer.
