All Your Questions, Answered

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Cocktail/semi-formal will be what is most commonly worn. We will only kick you out if you wear a Jay Cutler Bears jersey, although Jay Cutler Broncos/Dolphins jerseys are actively encouraged.

Question

I thought the Save the Date was for April 18th, what changed?

Answer

We are so happy to have our family expanding with a nephew on each side! Babies are the life of the party, so we want to do our best to make sure that they can join the fun!

Question

So... what else changed along with the date?

Answer

The church in Spencer was not available for the new date, but fortunately that is the only piece that couldn't work on the vendor/venues front. We will now be at the beautiful church in Milford, near bucolic Okoboji Lake.

Question

How long will this wedding last?

Answer

It is going to be a Catholic wedding, so be sure to put your money on the over.

Question

Isn't there like nothing to do in northwest Iowa?

Answer

Yep. Sorry.

Question

But for real, what am I supposed to do?

Answer

Odds are, it will be raining, so you can watch it fall. The fields might be in the midst of getting planted so you can watch the tractors go. Jackie says there are some cute antique stores, thrift stores, and boutiques. Unfortunately the previously recommended Iowa Project brewery has since gone out of business. But great news! Iowa Project has been replaced by Bearded Dog Taproom, and we would definitely recommend.

Question

Is there anything special to do Friday night when I get into town?

Answer

After the rehearsal dinner, Jackie and I will be hanging out at the Bearded Dog Taproom (see above) if anybody would like to join us. Not quite your speed? Kathy Schwenneker will have the conference room reserved at the Holiday Inn or Matt and Sara Ricke would love to host whoever is in town and wants to hang out.

Question

I'm a little bummed that my best mate couldn't make it. What's up with that?

Answer

Sorry, we have a hard limit of 270 people. Your best mate was unfortunately number 272. We wish that they could have joined us too.

Question

So I am single and ready to mingle. Who else is here with me?

Answer

While we do have a great looking group of people that will be joining us, it feels... improper to list them all here. For those who wish to inquire, we are willing to provide a list privately.

Question

What if I am afraid of being sober?

Answer

No worries, we will have an open bar (except for shots, you have to buy those).

Question

What if I have kids that are always bored at these stupid events?

Answer

We are going to have crayons and activity sheets for the youngins, lawn games for the less youngins, a pool table for the even less youngins, and an open bar for the even even less youngins.

Question

What if I am lame and don't want to get on the dance floor?

Answer

Absolutely not an issue. We may have cornhole or other lawn games available out back (weather dependent), a pool table in the game room, or an open bar to lower those inhibitions.

Question

There seems to be a lot of references to an open bar, but I will need to slow it down a bit to last the night. Will there be non-alcoholic options?

Answer

An open bar just means available drinks, including those of the NA persuasion. Help yourself to as many sodas, NA beers, or mocktails as you like. Or you can try out Jacob's preferred beverage of choice, water.

Question

How will I get home?

Answer

Unfortunately the private shuttle bus fell through. But where there is a will, there is a way. We will have drivers to shuttle guests in Matt and Sara's vehicles throughout the night on an ad hoc basis. We will have somebody (probably Matt) available to pick people up from the hotels to take them back to the vehicles in the morning. Or alternatively, spend the night at the venue.

Question

Do you have any other advice?

Answer

Pack all of your pills. Allergy and pain especially.

Question

What if I am in the market for some John Deere equipment?

Answer

You have come to the right place. Look at the person across from you, to the left of you, and to the right of you at the table. Chances are high that at least 2 of them will be John Deere employees. If you are looking for a recommendation for a dealer in the region, look for Darren Falk, brother-in-law of the groom.

Question

Hypothetically, if you were up by two with two outs and the bases loaded with Barry Bonds coming up to the plate, would you pitch to him?

Answer

Absolutely not.

Question

These questions feel unusual for a wedding's FAQs page. What is up with that?

Answer

Jackie takes no responsibility in these questions or answers.
