It all started in U.S. History class sophomore year—just two teenagers unknowingly sitting a few desks apart. Fast-forward to senior year, when our friend groups collided and we finally officially met. What began as a friendship quickly turned into something more just before graduation. From late-night talks to endless laughs, we became inseparable. Somewhere between being best friends and sharing way too many inside jokes… we found forever in each other.
It all happened during a family vacation to Hawaii, though little did I know, Jacob (and my entire family!) had something extra special planned. My mom suggested we take family photos, which made total sense. With such a big family, getting everyone together is rare, so I didn’t think twice. As the shoot went on, the group photos narrowed down to couples, and soon it was our turn. While we stood by the water, with the sun setting behind us, Jake suddenly got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It felt like a scene from a movie — waves crashing behind us, the sky glowing gold, and Jake completely drenched… not that we noticed. We were too caught up in the moment to care. And of course, I said yes.
