Jacob and I went on our first date on November 5, 2020. On our first date I knew that Jacob had all of the qualities that I wanted in a husband, however, we just couldn’t seem to get past that awkward stage. After a few more awkward dates we had decided that it would be best to remain friends. While working on our friendship over the next 4 months, Jacob made it really difficult to not fall for him. He constantly did little things to make me feel so loved and appreciated. Becoming friends first and strengthening that bond really helped our relationship grow into something beautiful. Eventually, we finally got past the awkward stage and we started dating on March 28, 2021. Shortly after we started dating, Jacob had to move down to Athens, Ohio to pursue his degree in Physical Therapy. It was then and there that we had to decide whether we wanted to endure long distance or decide to end things. We both decided that we cared about each other too much to give up. Long distance was not easy. We endured 3 years of 6 hour car rides, going weeks without seeing each other, and lots of schooling/studying along the way. However during this journey, we learned the value of trust and communication. Our relationship grew stronger than ever as we learned to appreciate how valuable our time was together. On July 23, 2022 Jacob proposed: and of course I said yes! Jacob has been such a rock in our relationship and I couldn’t have done long distance with anyone else. We have grown so much individually and as a couple throughout this journey. I truly cannot wait to marry the love of my life and to start our lives together. The best advice we can give is to always put God first and to prioritize your relationship with Him. We know that without God none of this would’ve been possible. I truly believe that God created us for each other, and I cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
