Dorothy & Jacob first met when they both became pledges of Delta Sigma Pi, a business fraternity, during their Freshman year at Miami University. They became fast friends in the process.

The two shared their first kiss one evening in beautiful Oxford, Ohio. A romantic relationship did not ensue.

By the time their Junior year was coming to a close, Jacob and Dorothy had grown into best friends. So much so, that they decided to become roommates for their final collegiate year, along with Jim, a cat Dorothy had just rescued. Jim has been an incredible addition to their lives ever since, and is a beloved member of the family.

Romance was in the air that night as Jacob and Dorothy were both in attendance at Joe's on Weed St. in Chicago to see country duo Dan + Shay.

Jacob got his act together and asked Dorothy on a proper date.

After a one-year stint in Lexington, KY for Jacob, he moved back to Chicago and joined Dorothy & Jim (the cat) in their Lakeview apartment.

The duo journeyed to Thailand for an event where Dorothy was speaking. After 9 days there, the two finally started heading home, but not before rounding out the trip with a 24 hour layover in Dubai. Jacob had planned the day. Little did Dorothy realize what he had in store for her - a journey by camel to a private dinner in the middle of the desert. It was there, by a fire, with sand as far as the eye could see, where Jacob popped the question. He even managed to get the entire proposal on film.
