We first met at a Michigan tailgate in 2012, and let's just say it wasn't the fairytale start you would think. But throughout the year, we formed a friendship through mutual friends in the Greek life community. May of 2013 we realized our feelings for each other, after two weeks of spending time together we both knew there was something more. Caroline then jetted off to spend two months in Egypt with her parents. Despite the distance, we Skyped every day. When Caroline finally came home Jake picked her up at the Detroit Airport and took her out on their first official date. Despite Caroline getting sick at the restaurant and the two of them nearly getting arrested for accidentally trespassing, we knew it was love. We became official that day. Detroit, Traverse City, Torch Lake, Marquette, Drummond Island, Holland, Saugatuck, Copper Harbor, Houghton, Porcupine Mountains, FLINT, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Chicago, Three Oaks, St. Joseph, Frankfort, Glen Arbor, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Michigan, Port Huron, New York, Pensacola, Orlando, Tallahassee, Colorado Springs, Denver, Boulder, West Virginia, Gatlinburg, New Orleans, Belize, Cozumel, Roatan, San Fransico, Oakland... We've had quite the journey together over the past five years. We're excited and ready to take the next step in this life together and will be finally getting married May 24, 2019. May 24 is a special date for Caroline. Her grandparents, James and Phyllis Sherrouse, were married May 24, 1958, in New Orleans. They shared 59 great years together before Caroline's grandpa passed away. Their relationship and love for each other have been an inspiration. It's an honor for us to be married on their 61st anniversary.
