We met on the dating app Bumble. This is an app designed for women to make the first move by initiating conversation. Knowing Jake and his shyness this was a good thing! Our first date was at Spruce Street Harbor in Philadelphia. It was very crowded and it was a struggle to find each other but we did. We sat and talked and at the same time a strange heavy metal band played in the background and kids ran around us. It was not an ideal first date location but there was an obvious connection between us. Even with the lousy ambiance we decided to stay for another round of drinks. On our first date we realized we grew up in the same area: Upper Dublin and Abington, and we both attended Temple University around the same time. We knew in that moment how crazy it was that two people who lived in such close proximity had never met before. At this point we both assume that at some point in our lives we must have been at the same place at the same time. Whether it was at Wendy's in Dresher or at Temple University. Our paths officially crossed on our date and there was a definite spark. We weren't official until later on (we still don't know the official date) but we mark our time knowing each other by our first date in August summer 2017.
