Jacob and Averey met in college at Oral Roberts University. They were both freshmen in the theatre department. Averey was a Theatre Education major (which didn't last long), and Jacob was an Acting major. They had just started school and were already in a show together, Rumors. College was new for them, and they were navigating the challenges of making friends away from home, but somehow they ended up in a friend group together. Averey fell first, but she thought nobody knew. This was so far from the truth because if anyone knows Averey, you JUST know she can't hide how she feels. Jacob was supposedly oblivious as he was focused on his acting because, for some reason, he thought his first show in college was going to turn him into Leonardo DiCaprio; it didn't. Not too long after, Averey was assigned to do Jacob's hair for Rumors, and this is when Jacob started to notice how beautiful and funny she was. Even to the point where other castmates were making comments like, "Sooo Jacob, what's going on with you and Averey?". Jacob would just shrug it off, but little did they both know something was brewing. Averey was convinced that Jacob liked her even though all of her friends told her "No". But it didn't help that Jacob kept denying it when people would ask. Our friends were worried that Averey was going to get her heart broken. But that didn't happen. Then a month of flirting ensued for Averey and Jacob, until flirting got more serious when they were cast in Lily's Purple Plastic Purse. You might be thinking, "Oh, they were romantic leads together". Nope, even more unlikely, Jacob was cast as Averey's father to Lily. This is when the so-called Rumors got larger, and the harmless flirting turned into, "I think I love them". What really got the ball rolling was one night after rehearsal, Averey blurted out that she liked Jacob, which he was quick to reciprocate. After this revelation, Jacob and Averey decided to seek out what the Lord wanted, so they decided not to talk during winter break to make sure they truly liked each other. When returning to college, it was clear as ever that they KNEW they liked each other. So, from fasting, to Jacob asking out Averey twice (that's a story for another day, but Averey did say yes both times, just so you know), to dating for almost 4 years, we are now getting MARRIED!
