The Story of a Failed Platonic Friendship...

We met back in middle school when we decided to join the "coolest" club our school had to offer, band. To be quite honest, first impressions of each other is unmemorable. I probably thought he was just another icky, annoying boy and he probably thought that I was just another nerdy girl. Well years of being in close proximity together resulted in a pretty great friendship. Luckily we had a lot of classes together, were in the same clubs, and were even in the same group for our school's infamous cardboard boat project for physics class. And of course, having band practice literally every day also helped. We finally parted ways when we went off the college. Although there was distance, we still kept in touch and hung out when we were home for breaks. And one day he invited me to his Aggie ring dunk and that's when our conversations really took off. I can't tell you exactly what changed but we just saw each other differently from then on. Our conversations became more meaningful and I realized that we weren't kids anymore. We both had ambitions and dreams and had a clear view of what we wanted for our respective futures. All we knew for certain was that we wanted to finish the journey of life together as one. Our platonic relationship blossomed into something deeper. There is something special about falling in love with a person you grew up with. We saw each other's physical, emotional, and mental growth. We were there for each other's middle school drama, high school heartbreaks, and college mistakes. We shared every big milestone and celebrated each other's successes. And we can't thank you all enough for joining us at the beginning of our new adventure.
