The Battery is the new stadium for Georgia's Major League Baseball team, the Braves. If you are interested in catching a game of America's favorite pass time, the Braves are in season all summer. Aside from baseball, you can enjoy bars, restaurants and shops here as well. It is a little bit north of the city, but really cool if you like sports!
Chick-fil-a is a fast food restaurant native to Georgia, and happens to be THE BEST fast food restaurant in the US. Try the classic chicken biscuit or chicken minis for breakfast or get Jacob's favorite for lunch: a chicken Sandwhich with waffle fries or Allie's favorite: the chicken nuggets with Chick-fil-a sauce. A must try while you're in town!
This is one of Allie's favorite Mexican restaurants in Atlanta! They have really good food and great margaritas! Make sure you try the cheese dip, it will change your life! Tacos and Tequilas is located just across the street from Ponce City Market, so two birds one stone!
This is a really good tapas and wine bar in Atlanta. They have a wide selection of delicious tapas as well as paella and some bigger plates. Additionally, they have an extensive wine list from wine countries around the world. Highly recommend!! Make sure you call ahead to book a table.
There are a ton of great breakfast and brunch spots in Atlanta, but if you're looking for classic southern biscuits, you absolutely have to come here. Southerners are known for loving to eat biscuits (you might know them as scones..but they're BETTER) with gravy, among other things, and waffles with fried chicken and maple syrup. I know it sounds strange, but it really is delicious (even Jacob approves) and no one does it better than MSBC!!
These are not your classic Mexican tacos, but they are delish. If you're looking for a modern American take on classic tacos (think buffalo chicken taco & chipotle BBQ pork taco to name a few..) with great guac, queso, and margaritas, this is your spot! You can't go wrong with their brisket nachos, and if you're feeling extra adventurous, try their crisp tots & local egg.
This is another classic southern breakfast place that serves breakfast all day! They have a lot of really great options, but we recommend the shrimp and grits (grits are the Georgia version of polenta, and yes we eat it for breakfast!) or the sour cream pancake for something sweet!
Wouldn't be a Georgia summer without ice cream to beat the heat. Like breakfast restaurants, there are a ton of really good ice cream parlors in Atlanta, but Jeni's is one of the best. They homemake their ice cream with in all kinds of classic and creative flavors. They have even started selling their ice creams in grocery stores - it's THAT good.
This is a highly rated local Mexican-American restaurant within walking distance from the hotel! They have everything from tacos to burrito bowls to quesadillas - you name it. Happy hour is Monday - Friday from 4-6, every Tuesday they have $2.99 tacos, and on Saturday & Sunday they serve breakfast tacos from 11-3.
If you're looking for something healthy, Sweetgreen is a well loved place within walking distance from the hotel. They have a menu of their own salads and warm bowls, that are vegetable based with various protein options (meat or vegetarian), and you also have the option to build your own salad or bowl!
This is Georgia's ICA aka the best supermarket!! They have freshly cut fruit every day, the best sub sandwiches, and even a pharmacy. You can find just about anything you need here. This one is roughly a 15 minute walk through midtown or a 5 minute Uber ride.
If you know...you know. Target is the BEST store ever. They have literally E V E R Y T H I N G. Groceries, clothes, accessories, shoes, pharmacy, candy, even their own brand of snacks that are SO good. You go in here for one thing and leave with 40 so be careful :)
If you want to catch a movie one day, this is a really big theatre in Atlantic Station with showings in 3D and IMAX. Just a heads up: theatres in the US don't allow you to bring in outside food or drinks - you have to buy everything there (but if you have a big purse to hide things in, they never check ;))
