FAQs

If you have questions that aren't listed here, please send an email to balcarjohnsonwedding@gmail.com and we will reply as soon as possible!
Question

So how exactly is this going to work?

Answer

Since we're asking you to travel, we're not expecting or asking for gifts. We understand that this is a financial commitment and we are trying to make it as cost effective as possible. However, the price for the houses does not include travel and food. We have kitchens in all three houses and there are grocery stores within 20 minutes. There are definitely enough chefs in the family to tackle the cooking! If you have questions or concerns, please email us at balcarjohnsonwedding@gmail.com and check this website often as we will be updating it as things progress.

Question

What time can we arrive and do we really have to leave?

Answer

Check in is at 5 pm on Wednesday, April 17th and check out is, unfortunately, Wednesday, April 24th at 11 am. But feel free to arrive and depart when it fits your schedule.

Question

How much is this going to cost me/us?

Answer

It'll cost about $365 per adult. We took kids out of the equation and will be throwing a little more money in to help lower the cost. If you plan on staying Wednesday to Wednesday, that averages out to around $52 per night for each adult. If you're staying only a few days, it still averages to less than $100 per night for each adult. Again, we're asking you to travel and spend time with us, so need to spend extra money on gifts!

Question

Which airport should I fly into?

Answer

West Palm Beach International airport is the closest, Fort Lauderdale is about an hour and 20 minutes away, and Orlando is also an option if you don't mind driving about two hours.

Question

Is there transportation from/to the airport?

Answer

We can work with you on this. We can pick you up from Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach, or you can drive from Orlando.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

We’re planning on going to Singer Island’s Sailfish Marina for the Sunset Celebration. They have handmade crafts from vendors, live music, and there’s a restaurant. It’s all right by the docks and water. We would also like to do an Easter meal on Sunday.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Only for the wedding! We're asking for beach formal, please.

Question

What are we doing for food?

Answer

Since this is a house, we are cooking. However, because there are so many people and several kitchens, it shouldn't be difficult to address everyone's requests. If you have a special request, dietary needs, or an idea, please email balcarjohnsonwedding@gmail.com. There are also restaurants nearby, though you will need to arrange transportation.

Question

Where is my room?

Answer

Due to the configuration of the houses, we must assign rooms. We have absolutely tried our best to make it as comfortable as possible for everyone. Should space be leftover, feel free to move around or trade for a different room. Here’s the website if you’d like to check out the houses: http://beachhousesinparadise.com/ - We have As Good As It Gets, Heaven Can’t Wait, and Carpe Diem.

Question

Do we have to use the outdoor showers?

Answer

YES. Per the property management company, "After fun in the ocean, or river, please use the outdoor showers we provide to rinse off the sand before re-entering the home. (Pets especially!) 'Because little hands touch our floors, please leave your shoes at the door.' :-)" Let's be respectful.

Question

What if we want to do something else?

Answer

Thursday evening, Friday evening, obviously Saturday, and part of Sunday are all wedding related. Since you are coming for our wedding, we would appreciate if you set these days/times aside for us. You are more than welcome to arrive early or extend your stay to do other activities. However, we are only taking care of booking the houses for the nights we’re using them.

Question

Those docks look like good fishing! Can we fish from them?

Answer

Yes! There are even some fishing poles available at the houses for us to use! Just remember that you will need a fishing license: http://myfwc.com/license/recreational/freshwater-fishing/

Question

Is there anything we as guests should bring?

Answer

Water shoes may be a good idea if you have sensitive feet. After scoping out the area, we discovered that there are some sharp rocks and a lot of small shells. You can find water shoes at Walmart or on Amazon for around $5-$20 depending on the style.

Question

Your photographer is staying there, too?!

Answer

Of course! You can even schedule individual sessions with her, if you’d like! She will be with us from Thursday night to Sunday morning. Here’s the link to her website if you’d like to see her work: https://www.monicamullphotography.com/

Question

What is WeddingMix and why did you send me a code for it?

Answer

WeddingMix is the company we’re using for a wedding video. They will send us a few cameras to record the biggest parts of the day, but they also use the videos and pictures from your phone! Download the WeddingMix app, tap “I’m a guest” and enter code “adventuresofjakeandv” to get access and start uploading!
