Imagine being 17 and having a twin sister with a bunch of girl friends. Sounds like the life, right? Cause it is. Morgan, my twin, introduced me to Lauryn in High School. First time I met her, I knew I liked her because she was one of the only people that actually laughed at my jokes and thought my mullet was hot. I knew I loved her, when on our first date she told me to walk back after I walked out her front door to give her a kiss. After she graduated from High School, Lauryn went to North Idaho College, which alleviated a lot of concern from the guy that fell head over heels. After I graduated from High School and went to WSU, Lauryn gave me a "care package" of sorts that included a jar of kiss chocolates for me, a WSU blanket she tied herself, and a letter and note cards she wrote saying how much she loved me and various reasons why she loved me. My first year in college had a lot of ups and downs, but these things got me through the Valley's of life. When Lauryn came to WSU my Sophomore year, I couldn't have been happier. Those 3 years in college had the best times we could remember, as well as some of the best times we can't remember. For a lot of people, their favorite years of their lives are their college years. I thought this would be the same for us, but I truly believe our best years are just starting. From getting engaged in Whitefish, MT after graduation, to then living with some of our closest friends in the poor life after college, to now living at our own place and taking off on our own adventure hundreds of miles away from Family, but just minutes away from best friends. So here's to what we have been and have experienced, but the true celebration of Marriage is what the future holds. And I couldn't imagine a better person to have by my side. - Jacob, the luckiest guy in the world.
It all started in the halls of Central Valley, where Morgan & I became close friends. Morgan introduced me to Jacob, who had a flowing mullet, killer jawline, & a sense of humor that I couldn’t resist... let’s just say I was hooked from the get-go. We ended up going to my senior prom as somewhat friends, but it wasn’t until the summer after I graduated that we would become so close. I’ll never forget the night when he took me to Manito Park in Spokane, where we sat under the willow tree & talked for hours, that’s when I knew that this was my soul mate; the person who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. We went on to college together at Washington State University where we had the time of our lives. We made so many friends & memories to last us a lifetime, and through it all our relationship grew stronger. In June of 2020, my friends & family road tripped over to Whitefish, Montana for a weekend to celebrate my golden birthday. The weekend was full of barhopping, card games, and a nice dinner out. Dinner was normal but looking back on it, Jacob was pretty quiet & was very adamant about them bringing out my birthday dessert. After I blew out the candles, Jacob stood up & gave a speech about our lives together, and in front of everyone he wanted to ask me to marry him (cue the tears). You know, I kept teasing Jacob about the ring I had dreamed about & had hoped it was coming soon but when he dropped to his knee in the middle of that restaurant, I was so surprised. Everything was so perfect. There was no hesitation, "yes, of course!" If you told 17-year-old me that she would be marrying Jacob Ness – she would say it’s a dream come true. He is my biggest supporter, my team mate, my rock. I’m so lucky to have a better half, and I can’t wait to stand by his side for the rest of my life (even if he is a Raiders fan) 😉
