Everyone needs a valid passport to be able to travel to Sicily. Please check your expiration date! You cannot use your passport to travel if the expiration date is within 6 months of your travel dates. For anyone who has Global Entry, please note that Global Entry only works when you return to the USA. When you arrive in Europe, you will still have to go through customs like everyone else.
Please reference our travel section for information on our travel concierge who can help you book all your flights, transportation, and other hotels (if needed) outside of the wedding hotel, if you are extending your stay in any part of Italy and Europe. Please note when booking flights: you will fly in and out of Palermo, Sicily. Also, please note that if you are connecting in Europe, make sure to give yourself enough time on your layover so that you have enough time to clear customs and make your connection. Minimum of 90 min layover.
Whether you are a frequent traveler to Europe or this is your first time, here are some things we would suggest bringing. 1. Electrical adapters for multiple devices (phones, hair tools, etc.) 2. Printed copies of your passport 3. Air Tags for Luggage- just in case you run into any luggage issues connecting through European airports 4. Handheld fans- like we warned, its going to be warm! 5. Sunscreen 6. Comfortable shoes for walking around 7. Layers for at night 8. Beachwear- there is a pool and a beach at the resort, please make sure you take advantage and enjoy!
Please plan on attending the Welcome Dinner on Friday, June 19th, the Wedding Ceremony and Reception on Saturday, June 20th, and Post Wedding Sunday Funday on Sunday, June 21st. Details of events will be available on this site as well as information will be given at the hotel along with transportation specifics.
Here are some other reminders and details to keep in mind: 1. Call your cell phone provider and alert them you are going out of the country, unless you add international on your phone service, you will only be able to use your phone when on wifi. 2. Download what'sapp to use as a messenger and calling app while overseas. It is a widely used app that allows texting and calling even when you don't international service on your phone. All the Euros use it! 3. You don't need a lot of Euros (European currency). Most places take card and most credit card companies have really good exchange rates with no extra or hidden fees. Make sure to call your credit card company to ask so you know what the best choice is for you to use over there. 4. Tipping is not big in Europe like it is in the US. You do not tip on most things like like you do in the US but if feel free to keep some Euros (European currency) on you for misc. tips for hotel staff as you see fit. 5. Sicilian is a different dialect than Italian so for those of you who are brushing up on your Italian, don't be surprised if they understand you at times! Google translate is a good app to use but otherwise, you can generally get by with finding someone who can communicate in English to some degree.
We’re keeping it adults-only, but we really hope you can still join us!
