How We Met

Candy Rings to Diamond Rings

Valentine's Day 2016 was not off to a good start. Chris, perpetually single, was yet again stuck working a double serving shift at Bond Street Social in Baltimore. Shannon began the day hopeful, but after being ditched by her dinner date she felt more resentful than ever of the holiday. After years of failed romance, both planned to spend the day focused on anything but love. Shannon was able to quickly pivot from romance to misanthropy thanks to a few of her friends. Dressed in all black they, headed to Fells Point for an Anti-Valentine’s Dinner full of gabbing, mischief, and tequila. After a fancy dinner and drinks, they decided to call out of work and continue the party into the night. Meanwhile, Chris was busy serving couple after couple, stealing fries from the kitchen, and sprinting around the restaurant muttering to himself about how he could "totally run this place". The hours ticked by and the tips rolled in. Only after taking a break to tease the hostesses did he turn and notice a girl, dressed in all black, throwing back some Rumpleminz and collecting Valentine’s candy from the bartender. Something came over him and he boldly decided he had to make a move. He mustered up all the bravado he could, marched over to the bar, grabbed a ring pop out of her hand, said nothing, walked away. You know, relationship expert type stuff. "Hey that wasn't very nice!" Shannon said, confused. "That's the point. Go to hell!" Chris hollered back. And the rest, they say, is history.
