Home to a trove of eclectic stores, fabulous restaurants, and robust nightlife, there's something here for everyone. In true Kate and Jackson fashion, we've included a list of our favorite restaurants and bars in this area: - Kin Len Thai: Authentic street-style Thai food, highly recommend the chicken wings - El Comal: Homey, no-frills Mexican food - The Taco Stand: Fresh, handmade tortillas with all the classic meats, the way San Diego tacos were meant to be made - Madison: Great rotating menu and four (!) types of espresso martinis - Buona Forchetta: You wouldn't think San Diego had good pizza but you'd be sorely mistaken... - Pomegranate: Raucous Russian-Georgian restaurant, go for the adjaruli - Stella Jean's Ice Cream: Lots of non-dairy options! - The Friendly Tavern - Part Time Lover - The Lafayette Hotel The adjacent neighborhoods of University Heights, Hillcrest, and South Park are easily walkable from here as well.
This wonderful spot, that you may recognize from our engagement photos, is right in our backyard and was one of the biggest draws for us when we moved to the area. Balboa Park is home to 18 museums, 65 miles of trails, and the San Diego Zoo. There are also a number of restaurants located within the park. This area is also adjacent to Downtown San Diego and Little Italy if you're looking to venture out a little further.
