Jackson and I knew of each other for a while through Skyler, his sister. We had each other’s social media and talked occasionally, but we were just good friends. Skyler encouraged us to go on a date for months, but I always declined. I went up to Woodland Park one day to hang out with some friends, but they ended up bailing on me when I got up there. Jackson heard that this happened and he texted me, asking if I wanted to hang out instead since he lived in the area, I said no and went back down to Colorado Springs. After that day, we started a Snapchat streak and wouldn't let the other person lose the streak, purely as a joke. This encouraged us to talk every day even more. Eventually, after countless nights texting and on the phone, Jackson asked me if I wanted to go on a sushi date after work. We went to Jun sushi, his hidden sushi gem in the Springs. I knew, from the second I walked in to him sitting on that bench, that he was THE one. Fun fact: We may have met in 2007 when our families worked together on a custom home construction and listing.
