Question

Yes! Go to the RSVP page for a list of events.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony and reception will be held at the main villa, which is walking distance from your accommodations.

Question

Where should I change money?

Answer

The best places to exchange money in Costa Rica, are local banks like Banco Nacional or Banco de Costa Rica (BCR), which offer the best rates, or using ATMs for convenience. It is essential to bring your original passport for bank transactions. Avoid currency booths at the airport, which offer poor rates.

Question

What are the tipping guidelines in Costa Rica?

Answer

Use the local currency. Tipping in Costa Rica is generally not mandatory, but it is highly appreciated, especially in tourist areas. Restaurants often include a 10% service charge, so extra tipping is optional (5-10% more for excellent service is common). Tour guides often receive 10-15%, while drivers and hotel staff are usually given small cash tips ($2–$5).

Question

Is the water potable?

Answer

In general, the tap water in most parts of Costa Rica is fine to drink. Bottled water is also readily available.

Question

What are we doing about meals and food aside from the welcome dinner and reception?

Answer

Each villa features a stocked kitchen. Your options include preparing something in your villa or visiting one of the local restaurants. https://www.puravidacasas.com/area-amenaties.html provides information about the local restaurants and shopping options. Typical meal items: Breakfast: gallo pintos - a stir-fry of beans and rice, served with eggs, cheese or natillo (sour cream) . It's delicious and great energy food if you are planning for a hike during the day! Lunch - or Casado - often served at lunch and dinner and in some restaurants it is a set meal. It is typically inexpensive, well-balanced and filling, consisting of meat (or fish) beans, rice and salad. A popular Casado is arroz con pollo or chicken and rice. Patacones are mashed plantain (a starchy version of a banana). The food is not typically heavily spiced, though hot sauces are available. A popular condiment is salsa lizano. Water: generally speaking, the tap water is safe to drink and bottled water is available. Specialty drinks: Ticos serve up batidos - a fresh fruit smoothie with water or milk. Favorites include mango, guava, passion fruit and pineapple. You can have them made with bottled water if you don’t want tap water. Pipas are green coconuts that have a hole macheted into the top and come with a straw for drinking - delicious!

Question

Watch Your Stuff

Answer

As with travel in many different parts of the world, keep your valuables close (as an example, have someone watch your items at the beach, don’t leave your shoes or anything else unattended.) While Costa Rica is a safe place to travel, it is always better to be diligent.

Question

Are there quiet hours at the villas?

Answer

There is an expectation that noise levels will be reduced at 10pm. This will include the DJ that is playing at the wedding reception.
