Jackie and Victor met in Los Angeles in April 2013. At the time, Jackie was living in Providence, RI and Victor was finishing up at USC. Jackie was in LA visiting her best friend, Amy, and her sister, Alex. Victor and Jackie crossed paths first at a game of capture the flag in Grand Park. Both on the red team, Jackie was running circles (literally!) around Victor to protect him.

Following their first encounter, Jackie kept thinking about Victor and how sweet of a guy he was. She worked up the courage to "friend" him on Facebook, and from there they started messaging each other. They had decided to see each other one more time before Jackie flew back to Providence. They decided to meet up during a random week day. Victor picked Jackie up from where she was staying in Santa Monica and the two headed to the pier. They walked along the beach and eventually made their way to the pier. They decided to take a ride on the ferris wheel, and surprise, surprise, this is where they had their first kiss.

After flying back to RI, Jackie and Victor continued talking every day. Jackie had always wanted to live in southern California and meeting Victor solidified her decision to make the big move. In May 2013 she accepted a position in San Diego and made the official move in July 2013.
