Question

IS THIS LIKE, A FORMAL WEDDING?

Answer

Sort of! Yes, we are having a set wedding day with set wedding hours and dancing and wine and vows, and maybe even a speech or two. Most of the accoutrements you've come to expect. But do expect it to be a bit more casual than other weddings you've been to. After all, it will be on the front yard of a private home, officiated by someone who can't even legally marry us. But the "event" aside, we're very excited to spend a week together experiencing Italy. Whatever days you can spend here will be more than we could ever expect. And hopefully it goes without saying, but we very much understand/hope that you will feel free to go out exploring on your own and just use the villas as a home base. Enjoy this time!

Question

WHERE WILL IT BE EXACTLY?

Answer

Legally, a courthouse in Austin, TX. But the real fun that you're invited to will be at a private villa in a small Tuscan hamlet called Tavernalle Val di Pesa. The exact address is 8 Via Bonazza, Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, Florence 50028, Italy.

Question

HOW DO WE GET THERE FROM HERE?

Answer

We recommend arranging a car rental for the duration of your stay. If you are friends with others attending the wedding, getting a group car would be a splendid idea. Depending where you're flying into, Tavernelle is about a 40 minute drive from Florence and a 3 hour drive from Rome. Airports in Florence, Rome and Pisa are all good options.

Question

WHAT IS AROUND THE VILLA?

Answer

Vineyards and views, mostly. At least right up the street. But venture a bit farther and you've got Florence and San Gimignano 19 miles away, or head west and be on the coast in less than an hour. Locally, the town of Tavarnelle and its grocery store are a 3-minute drive away, a tennis court in Sambuca val di Pesa is 10 minutes away, a train station and hospital in Poggibonsi are 30 minutes away and Florence’s Golf Ugolino is a 40-minute drive.

Question

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Answer

If you're really getting into the vibe, then any looks inspired by classic Italian and other Mediterranean cinema would hit the right notes. Or just look to Daniel Craig in Glass Onion. More seriously, dress as you would for a Mediterranean vacation. This is not a black tie affair, but smart, well composed summer fashion is just what il dottore ordered. We love the idea of color in our photos, so don't shy away from vibrancy if that's your cup of tea.

Question

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE?

Answer

Sunny pastoral bliss, hopefully. The internet describes the weather in Florence in May as "quite enjoyable," and so we're looking at warmer late spring days with lots of sunshine. However, it's also the tail end of the wet season, so being prepared for rain is a must.
