FAQs

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding celebration will be adults-only unless your child is specifically included on your invitation. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, The River Room has ample street parking.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

For those staying at the Intercontinental Hotel, there will be a shuttle provided at the end of the night to take you back to the hotel.

Question

Is there a dress code for the wedding?

Answer

We invite you to wear color! Think cocktail attire with a modern, colorful twist that is dressy but not black tie.

Question

Will the event be inside or outside?

Answer

Weather permitting, we plan to hold our ceremony outdoors on the beautiful riverside patio. Early September in Chicago can be warm and sunny, so we recommend bringing sunglasses. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the ceremony will be moved indoors.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Please let us know if you have a food allergy or dietary restriction and we'll do our best to accommodate it. All food will be nut-free (tree nut and peanut) although not prepared in a nut-free environment, and meals from appetizers through the entree will be dairy-free (dessert is the exception). There will also be gluten-free options for appetizers, entrees and desserts.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We have a block with a discounted rate at the Intercontinental Hotel on Michigan Ave. You can find the information here: https://www.zola.com/wedding/jackieandsteve2026/travel

Question

If I'm attending the rehearsal dinner, what should I wear?

Answer

We're keeping things a little more relaxed tonight while still dressing for a special evening. Think elevated summer style - summer dresses, linen, button-downs and lightweight layers. Jeans and overly casual clothing are discouraged.
