Question

Should I take pesos or dollars to Tulum?

Answer

While many places in Tulum certainly accept US dollars, you'll need to know how to exchange your money to the local currency – Pesos. Skip the currency exchange kiosk in the airport. You'll get the best exchange rate by exchanging money at a US bank before your trip- this will ensure you get the best, fair price, as if you try paying with US dollars conversions can easily get confused or you may overpay. Most taxis and transportation services prefer payment in pesos.
