All about us

What started with some wings, is ending with rings

Ahh the story of Jacquelyn Desarae “Smokeshow” Rios and well, me. It all began at the University of Nevada, Reno and good ol BDubs. The bar opened while we were in school and we were both hired. The first day of orientation I thought I was a genius. College dude, sports fanatic, getting tips and loads of female employees. It was like taking candy from a baby. But there was this one hostess, a short, blue eyed, gorgeous, brown haired girl who made me super nervous and I thought she was way outta my league (still is). So I stayed away, held my shot. Relationships go by and here we go; I had my shot, my opportunity with the number 1 seed! And not just the restaurant 1 seed either, apparently she was Miss Nevada Collegiate and man, was she the one to shoot for! And how did I take the shot? I cheated the system and got her number off the schedule at work. Before she knew it, I had her on the line. In reality, she actually had me hooked. I tried to stay young while in college but quickly learned a life lesson: you don’t know how much you love something until it’s gone. Like I lost my glove one time and I really loved that glove, but this was way different. We moved in together in Reno, finished school and decided to take our talents to her hometown of Las Vegas; which was difficult for me. I hung out with my friends a lot, didn’t want to move away from my second home in Tahoe or away from my family. But, as difficult as it was, it was easy when I had her to lean on. So here we are, 3 years into living in Vegas. She’s achieved her dream of becoming an awesome special education teacher. There truly are not many people who could do her job, let alone be absolutely amazing at it. She has pulled me out of some dark places that I never thought I could come out of. Our story may not be the most romantic, there’s been amazing highs and tough lows. But it’s our story and I would not have it any other way. She’s my first pick, first team all world woman, and one Hack-of-a girl.
