We met at Bentley College through our mutual best friend Erin. I was a student, Erin lived down the hall and Eric was a professional partier. As soon as we met we became fast friends and kindred spirits.
Eric got really excited when he heard I was coming to Boston for a friend's wedding. At this point, we were both individually happy and single. We reconnected to watch the Pats play the Jets and Eric says he knew during the game that we were meant to be. We spend the next four days together because Eric kept showing up wherever we were :). The night before I leave, and after guidance from our friend Erin not to come on too strong, we start the longest text conversation in history.
Over the next few months, we continue to text and text. I was confused about my feelings, but over time I realized that Eric was right and we were in fact meant to be. Texts turn into phone calls which turn into hours upon hours of Facetime. On February 2nd, Eric flies into Austin for our first visit. We've dubbed it our "Zeroversary" because we knew it was only the beginning.
After lots of flights, texts, Facetimes, a near death experience, and a cross country move, Eric is ready to pop the question. After months of planning, Eric and some very helpful friends find a way to make it a total surprise. We went to New York for the weekend right before Christmas. Right before a "holiday party" with my friends, we go out for some food on the Nautical Mile with my childhood house in view. Before we got our food I was already in tears, full of nostalgia. I thought I planned the night, but apparently I was wrong. After eating and arguing over whether the chicken in our pasta was breaded, the waiter walks over and hands Eric his guitar. He sings a song he wrote (it was perfect!) and I thought I was getting a really impressive Christmas present. Eric gets down on one knee and in shock, I say "Yes!" We head back to the "holiday party" and it was a surprise engagement party full of people we love! We'll never forget that incredible night!
