Dievole Wine Resort

Localita Dievole 6, 53019 Vagliagli, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Toscana 53019, Italy

Set in the heart of the Chianti wine region, Dievole Wine Resort is a stunning Tuscan retreat surrounded by endless vineyards and golden hills. Guests can enjoy locally produced wine, farm-to-table dining, and peaceful moments by the pool or among the olive trees. With its rustic elegance and warm atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to gather and celebrate under the Tuscan sun. We have reserved the entire Dievole Wine Resort, including rooms, for the three-day duration of our wedding. We will allocate everyone a room accordingly. At this time, please do not book your own separate accommodation for the nights of June 25th, 26th and 27th. We will send details regarding payment methods for accommodation at a later date. Check-in at Dievole Wine Resort on Thursday, June 25th begins at 4:00 PM. Check-out on Sunday, June 28th is at 11:00 AM. Please refer to the photo above for the best way to access the venue, depending on whether you’re coming from the North or the South.

Flight

Flight & Travel Information

We recommend booking a nonstop flight - with international travel, even small delays on connecting flights could make for a stressful journey and risk missing part of the celebration! Rome (FCO - Fiumicino) is the largest international airport and offers the most direct flight options from the U.S. and Canada. The drive from the venue is approximately 3 hours. Direct flights to Florence airport (FLR - Peretola) are uncommon from the U.S. and Canada, usually requiring a connection in a major European hub. The drive from the venue is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, so this might be an easier option if you are joining us from another European city. ---- IMPORTANT: If you're traveling from the U.S., please be aware that the EU has recently implemented a new digital border control system called the Entry/Exit System (EES). This applies when you arrive in Italy (or any Schengen Area country). At the border, you'll be asked to provide a fingerprint scan and facial image - a one-time registration that replaces the traditional passport stamp. No advance registration is required; it's all handled on arrival. Just make sure you're traveling with a valid biometric passport (one with an electronic chip). Optionally, you can pre-register your passport details and facial image up to 72 hours before arrival using the EU's free "Travel to Europe" mobile app, which may help speed up your border check. Note that acceptance of the app varies by country and airport, so it may not be available at your point of entry - but it's worth downloading if you'd like to be prepared. The most important thing to plan for: allow a little extra time when you land in Europe, as lines may be slightly longer than usual. Once you're through, you're all set to celebrate with us in Tuscany!

Rental Car

Rental Car Information

We highly recommend renting a car to travel to and from Dievole Wine Resort as the venue is located in the Tuscan countryside with limited public transit. We will not be organizing shuttles or transportation for any of our wedding events. Don't worry - people drive on the right side of the road in Italy, just like in the U.S. and Canada! There are many major international rental companies operating at the Rome and Florence airports, including Enterprise, Europcar, Budget, Sixt, Aviz, Hertz and others. The default rental car in Italy is manual transmission (stick shift). If you require an automatic vehicle, please be sure to reserve it specifically and well in advance, as they are less common. U.S., Canadian and other non-EU guests are now required to carry an International Driver's Permit (IDP) along with your valid home country license. You can obtain an IDP from AAA (if coming from the U.S.) or from the CAA (if coming from Canada) for a flat fee of USD $21 and CAD $31, respectively. See links below. https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html https://www.caa.ca/services/travel/international-driving-permit/

Travel Note

Important Items to Pack

Remember to bring your passport! Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned date of departure from Italy. Passport renewal processes can take months, so check this well in advance. Power outlets are different in Italy than they are in the U.S. or Canada. You will need an adapter to simply charge your phone or other electronic devices, which can be easily purchased on Amazon. Italy uses Type C, F, and L outlets (two or three round pins). We recommend bringing a universal travel adapter that supports these plug types. Please be aware that any U.S. or Canada-made blow dryer or hot tool may not work (even with an adapter) given the higher voltage in Italy. You will need hair styling tools that match the voltage, or that are dual voltage. The standard voltage in Italy is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz. Please note that the rooms at Dievole Wine resort are equipped with hair-dryers; however, we recommend packing a travel steamer (dual voltage) if needed. There is a pool at the venue, so be sure to bring a bathing suit if you plan to swim! Guests are free to use the pool at any time throughout the three days (in between the wedding events, of course!).
