From Jackie (and Antonio, always by my side) If you had told me a few years ago that I’d meet the love of my life on a dating app, I probably would’ve laughed. But then… we both swiped right. It was Bumble, where the girl has to make the first move. I was working remotely in Downers Grove at the time, only coming into the city every couple of weeks. Antonio was working at Uber, right across the street from PwC. Somehow, we were in the same radius to match. I sent the first message—a playful game of “Two Truths and a Lie.” He responded with just the right mix of charm and wit, and I knew right away this conversation was going to be different. We texted nonstop. Even though it was my busy season at work, I couldn’t help but make time for him. We finally set a date. I took the train downtown, and we planned to meet at Union Station. In true rom-com fashion, he showed up late… and at the wrong station. But once we found each other, the night unfolded effortlessly. We started at a cozy wine bar and bar hopped through River North, talking and laughing like we’d known each other for a while. After just our second date, Antonio had a work trip planned to India. I didn’t want to go weeks without seeing him, so—on a whim—I asked if I could tag along. Bold, I know. But something about us just felt right. We planned a spontaneous 48 hour layover in Dubai before heading to India. That trip was a whirlwind of adventure, discovery, and laughter. We barely knew each other, but somehow, it felt like we’d been traveling together forever. I loved how curious he was about the world and how open he was to new experiences. Since then, our story has been filled with little surprises, big dreams, and a love that continues to grow in the most unexpected and beautiful ways.
