How We Met

Three and a half years ago, I was a new employee at the seminary I was attending in southern California. I was given a little workspace next to a lovely redhead. She kept having seminarians come ask for her signature on some book she had written. I was intrigued. Trying my best not to betray my fascination, I introduced myself and asked for any advice she had on writing. Though she would soon move up and out of that little office, over the next several years we would have occasional conversations about writing and education and anything else I could think to ask her. She was always kind and gracious and humble (and FAR too beautiful). So when she asked for my help with a book she was editing, I cleared my schedule to give it. After all, what better way to get to know this girl who had interested me for years? The day after we finished the book (which happened to be my birthday), we went on (what I thought was) a date. I was absolutely star struck. She was giggly and kind and thoughtful (and again, beautiful), even more so than I could have imagined. And now I’m marrying that lovely redhead from that little workspace all those years ago. I couldn’t be more privileged. -- Jack
