How We Met

One day while working out at the gym, as most gay love stories begin, I caught Terry's eye in the mirror while he was doing some bicep curls. Terry and I had a few mutual friends before we ever met so we knew of each other by this point. I was walking to some machines towards the back and from across the gym we sort of did the head nod, smile, awkward wave to each other, and being so distracted by his smile, I managed to trip UP the staircase and land on my face. It was just like a scene from a movie, or that time J Law fell up the stairs accepting her Oscar. I was incredibly embarrassed and assumed I would never see or speak to that handsome guy ever again so I hid behind a wall and tried to avoid him at all costs. Luckily our friend introduced us soon after that and thus began our story.

The Proposal

April 23 2018

Terry always said he was going to be the one to do the proposing, but it was a perfect opportunity that I couldn't pass up. It was a very special day, Terry and I were closing on our very first house together! It was a Monday morning and I told him I needed to run to work for a quick meeting before we went to our closing. Luckily our best friend and realtor was able to get me into the house early so I could set up a few things. After we signed our lives away, even though it was raining, I told Terry we absolutely had to go get a photo in front of our new house! When we arrived, things got a little... special. There was a van sitting out front with two gentlemen who were waiting to get in the house to finish a few repairs from the inspection. So as we are walking inside, the two guys slowly started to follow us in. I had set up some photos of us and and nice Welcome Home sign on the mantle, and behind that on the wall was a framed handwritten love note. Super gay. So as Terry is reading the note I head into the bedroom where I get on one knee behind a heart of roses waiting for him to come find me. Well, as I'm waiting, the two workers popped their heads into the room, awkwardly realize whats happening, and go hide in the bathroom. Terry was concerned they were barging in on me so he hurriedly comes to find me and realize whats going on. Though incredibly awkward, he said YES! We still laugh about that day!
