How we got here

From Friend to Fiancé

It all started at a casual hangout at Sheridan and Cole’s place. Jack spotted Shelby across the room and was immediately intrigued. “Who was THAT?!” he thought to himself as she left that night. So, like any modern-day romantic, he took matters into his own hands and texted her—brave, bold, and ready for love… or so he thought. Shelby, ever the polite and gracious soul, kindly declined the offer to go out. "Thanks, but no thanks," she texted back, and Jack, like the champ he is, didn’t let it phase him. They kept hanging out as friends. Fast forward about a year (and many more hangouts), and along came the pandemic. Shelby found herself in the midst of a housing crisis—she needed a new place, and fast. Enter Cole and Sheridan, the real MVPs of this story, who offered her a room in their house. The catch? They lived with none other than Jack. (Cue dramatic music.) As the summer of COVID raged on, so did the crew at 5323 Maple Springs. From “epic” parties (think: one song on repeat for 6 hours) to nightly movie marathons, 24/7 sleepovers, and questionable meat-cooking experiments that left everyone’s stomachs questioning everything—Shelby and Jack found themselves spending more time together than ever. There were pool volleyball tournaments from sunrise to sundown, impromptu karaoke performances that no one ever asked for, and more I Think You Should Leave quotes than anyone ever needed. The nights blurred together in a haze of laughter, snacks, and inside jokes, but through it all, Shelby and Jack were making memories and—let's be real—falling in love;) As the summer went on, they realized their bond had shifted from friendship to something more. Sure, the “epic” parties were fun, but the real magic was in the quiet moments spent together—whether it was making fun of the questionable meat or just talking until the sun came up. And so, in the midst of a pandemic, a housing crisis, and countless games of pool volleyball, Shelby and Jack started writing the first chapters of their own love story. And here we are today—one very questionable meat experiment later—ready to embark on the greatest adventure of all: marriage. We’re so excited to share this next chapter with all of you—who knows what’ll happen next, but we’re pretty sure it’ll involve more late-night snacks, questionable karaoke, and maybe even a backyard wedding or two.
