Hello, is this pew taken? No?.... Are you?

Monica: I think we met the normal way that every modern couple meets nowadays, right? On a dating app. Jack: No, I'm pretty sure we met at church. M: No, no, I saw you on that one dating app! J: Yeah, and you turned me down! So my story is that we met at church! (Ok, so we did actually see each other on a dating app prior to meeting at church, but nothing ever came of that. We actually met at church on a cold winter morning a week after a very rare and very freak snowstorm in El Paso.) To make a long story short Jack asked Monica if he could walk with her to the main church building and they made awkward conversation until the service started. A week later, Monica was celebrating her birthday with friends from church and Marina (one of the bridesmaids) told Monica to invite "that new guy from church". Monica agreed, but only if she saw him at Sunday School the next week. This whole thing must've been God ordained, because Jack and Monica ended up as prayer partners the very next Sunday! Needless to say, Monica invited Jack to her birthday party. Jack almost chickened out of asking Monica on a date (we're all happy he didn't) and after a few weeks of hanging out, Jack tried make things official in front of a hardware store. Very romantic. He got turned down. He tried again (with more romance) a week later. Success! After dating through a short deployment, night shifts, and the most rain El Paso has ever seen, Jack finally popped the question in early September in the middle of the desert at sunset in the presence of 30 or so random hikers. It was suitably romantic, and she said yes!
