Jack and Michon’s story began in August 2022, during his senior year and her sophomore year at the University of New Hampshire. Jack moved into Congreve Hall, where Michon was working as a resident assistant. Because of past disagreements over COVID mask policies, Jack had a reputation as a “problem resident,” so they didn’t have the best first impressions of each other. Their first interaction was brief—Michon checked him in and handed him a COVID test—each assuming the worst. They quickly proved those assumptions wrong. Over the next few months, they got to know each other. When Michon started her first accounting class, Jack—an accounting major—offered to help her study. What started as tutoring soon became something more, and by December, they were officially together. They stayed together through the rest of Michon’s college years. Upon her graduation, they moved in together in Nashua, New Hampshire. In September 2025, Jack proposed at sunset on a quiet beach in Michon’s hometown, with only her parents and siblings nearby to witness the moment.
