Rising more than 14,000 feet into the air, Pikes Peak is the tallest mountain in the region. You can take the historic Cog Railway up the mountain or simply drive along the Pikes Peak Highway. Caution that the top of the mountain often has snowy/windy conditions, so the railway is a great option if your vehicle is not up to the climb! You can hike the 13-mile Barr Trail to the summit if you are looking for an extremely challenging, all-day hike. The Summit House at the top offers special high-altitude donuts and spectacular views. Please note that train tickets and driving passes do need to be purchased in advance!

This is one of the most popular hikes in Colorado, so you will need to make a reservation in advance if you decide to tackle this while you are here! FYI: The current world record is 17 minutes and 16 seconds.
