We met in the fall of 2020 but it wasn't until the spring of 2022 when Jack moved to Atlanta that our story began! Lejla invited Jack to her birthday dinner, but of course, she needed assistance jumping her very dead car battery first. That was unsuccessful, and while there was no spark for her car there was clearly something between them. From that day forward Jack, Lejla, and their best friends Matt and Whittney spent the summer enjoying Braves games, soccer games, and dinners together constantly laughing and poking fun at the other. Lejla and Jack both had feelings for each other, but Lejla was moving to Washington, D.C. for her master's program at the end of the summer so they kept their feelings a secret. A lighthearted friendship formed and because neither was trying to impress the other they could truly be their authentic selves. As it turns out, that made them like each other even more. The two finally admitted their feelings on the night of Lejla's going away party. She moved away the next day, but they continued talking, exchanging texts constantly. A week after moving Lejla was flying out of Atlanta to visit her family in Bosnia and they decided to make their relationship official. After two weeks of a 5 hour time difference, FaceTimes, and texts Lejla landed back in Atlanta and they said "I love you" for the first time. We went through a year and a half of long-distance which built a strong foundation of friendship, and appreciation for each other's time, patience, and love. Through apartment floods, grad school, and job searches we've stood as each other's source of strength, comfort, and light. We've each known from the very beginning that it was meant to be and we can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
