They met at JMU orientation in the summer of 2012. While Jack was drawn to Kristen’s beautiful blonde hair and smile fit for a dentist, he did not seem to make the same impression on her. From that day, they went on to pave their own seperate paths throughout college with decidedly different futures after graduation. That was until they were placed in the same course in the fall of senior year. Whether it was Jack’s stellar fashion sense, his high-level rummy skills, or the discounted double vodka lemonades at Backcountry, Kristen began to reciprocate that same affinity that Jack developed for her, 3 years earlier. A first date at Clementine's led to another, and another… and another. They spent their last, most precious moments of college together and began to factor each other into their “post-grad” plans. Before they knew it, a long-distance relationship quickly turned into sharing a two-bedroom apartment in the heart of Richmond, VA. Just when they thought about settling down, Kristen’s career took her to the most unlikely of places, San Antonio, TX, and Jack found himself chasing the love of his life, once again, down to the Lonestar state. It was there, on a cloudy day in Austin, TX, 6 years from their first date, where Jack mustered up the courage (and the funds) to propose to Kristen. “What are you doing for the next couple of years?” transformed into “what are you doing for the rest of your life?” Spoiler alert, Kristen said yes! Today, Jack and Kristen are finally back in the same city where they grew their love and have made so many joyful memories. While they are excited for the new memories that 2023 will bring, September 2nd cannot come soon enough!
