Our Story

We first met on a Christian dating app and began talking on November 7, 2024. From the very first message, something felt different. Over the next few days, we were inseparable—texting, calling, sending each other little videos, and getting to know one another in a way that felt so easy and natural. Just a few days later, on November 19, we decided to meet in person for our first date at BJ’s in Pearland Town Center. We were both nervous, but the moment those first-date jitters faded, we found ourselves laughing and talking nonstop, just like we had online. Neither of us wanted the night to end, so after dinner we wandered through a few stores, simply enjoying each other’s company and stretching out every moment we could. Saying goodbye that night felt bittersweet—but neither of us knew we had just stepped into the beginning of our forever. Since that evening, we’ve spent every chance we could together—even if it meant tagging along on a work trip for Kreative Kreations. Each day together has felt like an answered prayer. We both prayed for one another long before we ever knew each other, and God’s answer was more beautiful than we could have imagined. Whether it’s running small errands side by side or dressing up for a night out, life feels sweeter when we’re together. One of our greatest joys is worshipping as a couple—Sundays at Champion Forest Baptist Church and Thursday nights at New Hope Church—keeping Christ at the center of everything we do. Somewhere along the way, we started a little shared note on our phones called “The List.” It’s where we jot down restaurants, fun places, and little adventures we want to experience together. On September 18, 2025—a Thursday night that started like any other date night—Jack suggested we dress up and go out to dinner. I had no idea the night would end so differently than it began. On our way to church afterward, Jack took a small detour and pulled up to the hill with the cross. He said we should take pictures in our fancy clothes. As we walked toward the top, I noticed a photographer waiting there, and my heart began to race—I knew something was happening. Jack turned to me and said, “I wanted to do this with the blessing of your parents and in the presence of God.” The next few moments felt like a dream. We reached the top of the hill, the cross standing behind us, and Jack dropped to one knee. Looking up at me with the sweetest, most loving eyes, he asked, “Kourtney Laurynn Butler, will you marry me?” Through tears and the biggest smile of my life, I said, “YES!” It was the most beautiful, intimate proposal—everything I had prayed for and more. As we were taking photos, I suddenly saw my family walking up the hill to celebrate with us, making the night even more special. We ended the evening by stepping into our first church service as fiancés, hand in hand, ready for the life God has planned for us.
