We have been in each other’s lives for over 20 years! Our dads worked together at Johnson & Johnson and we ended up living only a couple of streets away from each other. Then, we ended up in the same Kindergarten class at Shawnee Elementary. We went to prom together junior year and dated until the end of senior year. Our paths crossed again after college and we have been together ever since!

A week or so before the engagement, Jack had casually mentioned that he won a restaurant gift card at work. When he asked about getting dinner on Friday night and spending the gift card, no alarms were signaled. After getting ready for dinner, Jack asked for help in the backyard. Slightly annoyed that I would ruin my white pants, I reluctantly joined him in the back yard. I didn't find any yard work that needed to be done, but rather my favorite flowers and Jack down on one knee. Lots of champagne later, it finally kicked in that we were engaged! We were almost immediately joined by our parents who celebrated with us. After this celebration, I realized that we were not grabbing burgers but Jack had made a reservation at a steak restaurant. We had an amazing dinner together, enjoying every moment. We returned home to surprise decorations all over the house and a night full of celebrations. It could not have been more perfect. -Kirsty
