We recommend staying in Ocean Beach as its close to everything fun and only a short uber or a long-ish walk along the cliffs to the venue.
There is really only two hotel option but tons of AirBnB's.
If you can't find the right option for you in OB you can look into staying in areas like: Point Loma, Mission Beach, Mission Valley, or Downtown San Diego (many more hotel choices at a variety of price points)
